Slade, KY.- Owners Mark and Kathy Meyers have closed Torrent Falls, there will be no more public climbing. Climbers continued to bring dogs, leave human waste (despite the presence of a porta-john), and disrespect the reasonable rules that the Meyer's posted months ago. Climbing will still be allowed for those staying in the cabins at the resort. A previous WiredNut entry on the issue can be read here.

Hörst's Tribute To Todd Skinner

Eric Hörst has posted a worthy tribute to the late Todd Skinner at his training blog. Says Hörst:

"In my mind, Todd was the poster boy for proactive positive thinking. In my days around Todd I never heard him utter a negative word about anyone--it just wouldn’t be productive. Countless other people had the same experience, as you will discover in reading through the SuperTopo threads about Todd. All of these reflections combine with Todd’s body of work as a climber should serve as definitive evidence that being ceaselessly positive will improve the quality of your climbing as well as the quality of your life and relationships. Todd taught this to us all by his example."

Laurel Knob: Access Threatened!

From CarolinaClimbers.org: Some climbers have evidently been drilling new routes at Laurel Knob, despite the imposed new route moratorium. This must cease. No one is above the rules set forth in managing Laurel Knob. Continuation of this behavior could very well lead to access problems.

Again, here are the rules we ALL need to follow:

NO NEW ROUTES!!!
No camping.
No dogs.
No fires.
No guns.
No amplified music.
You must go in through Panthertown!!!
Be quiet and respectful of our neighbors.
